About
Jason & Angie Shelton
Shelton Custom Homes
Jason Shelton’s passion for craftsmanship started early. With years of hands-on experience and a deep commitment to quality, he built Shelton Custom Homes from the ground up—literally. His attention to detail, strong work ethic, and pride in building high-quality custom homes have earned him the trust of families across the region. Jason’s leadership on the job site ensures that every project reflects his personal standards and the vision each client brings to the table.
A Family-Run Operation
While Jason leads the charge in the field, his wife Angie brings structure and stability to the business. With over 25 years of experience in banking, she expertly manages the company’s finances—handling budgets, paying trades, and ensuring everything stays on track. Her behind-the-scenes leadership helps drive the success of Shelton Custom Homes.
Together, Jason and Angie have raised three strong, independent daughters and are now proud grandparents—with one grandbaby to spoil and another on the way. Angie enjoys working out, hot yoga, traveling, and spending time with family. Her heart, hustle, and support make her an essential part of the Shelton Custom Homes journey.
My Journey Into Homebuilding
I stumbled into construction by accident in my mid-20s. I started out in flooring sales, which eventually led me to launch Metro Wood Floors, a hardwood flooring business specializing in site-finished wood floors for new custom homes. I didn’t know it then, but I was already falling in love with the building process—being on job sites, watching homes come together, and staying active in the field.
That path took a major turn in 2015 when a builder I’d worked with mentioned a job opening at Antares Homes. I joined as a construction manager, and it immediately felt like the job I was meant to do. I loved the energy of the job sites, the problem-solving, the pressure, the trades, the walkthroughs, the realtors, the office teams—the whole thing. I became a top-ranked builder, then transitioned into training new hires, and eventually served as an Area Manager overseeing multiple communities.
I also built my own home in 2020, and again in 2023—experiences that gave me a deep appreciation for the entire design-to-completion journey. From lot selection to layout to finishes, I was hooked. In early 2024, after Antares was sold, I joined another builder that exposed me to different systems and processes. Around that time, some family friends approached me to build their dream home. Helping them design and bring their vision to life sparked something deeper—a realization that I wanted to take everything I’d learned and create something of my own. That’s when Shelton Custom Homes was born.

Why I Started Shelton Custom Homes
I didn’t start this company because I wanted to build a hundred homes a year. I started it because I wanted to build the right homes, the right way—for people who want more than just a transaction.
I love the personal side of homebuilding—guiding homeowners through every step, being available when they have questions, and offering honest answers (even if the answer is “I don’t know yet, but I’ll find out”). Building a custom home should be exciting, not overwhelming. That’s what I’m here for.
What You Can Expect Working With Me
I believe a great builder delivers more than a finished house—they deliver a trustworthy experience. My approach is rooted in four key principles:
“A successful builder stands on four pillars: proper scheduling, great communication, thorough quality checks, and strong relationships.”

Here’s what you can expect from me:
Personal Involvement
I walk my jobs. I don’t vanish after the contract is signed.
Clear Communication
I’ll always tell you the truth. No sales talk. No surprises.
Accountability
I treat your home like it’s mine. If I wouldn’t accept it, I don’t expect you to.
Respect for Your Investment
“If you don’t like it, fix it.” That’s something I always told the builders I trained. Don’t walk past a problem just because it’s “good enough.” If it’s not up to your standard, it’s not up to ours.
Beyond the Jobsite
Outside of work, I’m a proud Texan, a lifelong Longhorns fan, and a guy who values time with family above all else. I enjoy weekend cookouts, cheering on the Texas Rangers, and getting in a good game of pickleball when I can. I also pitch in a local men’s softball league and enjoy anything competitive that lets me push myself a little harder.
Before I found my career in construction, I considered following in my father’s footsteps—he was a firefighter for 35 years. That example shaped how I approach life: show up, work hard, do the right thing, and leave people better than you found them.
To me, building homes isn’t just a job it’s a way to build something lasting for people who matter. That mindset stays with me whether I’m on a jobsite, coaching someone new to the trade, or just having a quiet dinner with my wife at the end of the day.
